Newspaper studies police crashes in Florida

The Orlando Sentinel has begun a series of articles on police vehicle crashes throughout Florida, based on its own analysis of all reported motor vehicle accidents in the state over a 5-year period. The first article notes that most police crashes occur during routine driving, not pursuits or emergencies. Police officer drivers were about 6 times less likely to get a ticket than non-police drivers involved in crashes.

    Those officers who cause the crashes resulting in serious injury and/or death should be getting heavy prison time just like the rest of us would get.
