Explaining the NY crime drop

Crime has decreased significantly in New York City over the past 20 years. How much credit the police deserve, and whether the crime decline should be attributed to Compstat, Broken Windows, zero tolerance, stop & frisk, or some other factors has been hotly debated. A new special issue (2004 #1) of Justice Quarterly, the flagship journal of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, offers a variety of scholarly analyses and perspectives.
