Psych testing

This article reports that several Maryland police agencies are questioning the quality of psychological testing provided by a contract firm. The company is suspected of cutting corners and using boilerplate reports when evaluating both applicants and fitness for duty cases.

    Several years ago, it was widely discussed in this region that a particular psychologist would charge police applicants $75 for an evaluation, the results of which were almost always “inconclusive.” However, after another evaluation, at $50, the applicants were within acceptable parameters.

    I guess agreeing to pay for the follow-up evaluation was deemed to be evidence of good judgment, willingness to accept authority, and recognition that things just aren’t really fair in the real world. Clever testing procedure.
