Lawyers, politics & police discipline

This article reports that a special study of police discipline was conducted in 2013 in Chicago, with sweeping recommendations supported by the police superintendent, but it was allegedly buried by the city’s lawyer in favor of labor harmony in the months leading up to a mayoral election. Just recently, of course, the police superintendent was fired and, ironically, the mayor has appointed another task force to look at police discipline and accountability.
