Station-house referrals

This article describes a 1-year-old project of the Lynn, Massachusetts police department, a civilian-staffed Behavioral Health Unit that helps officers deal with offenders and others who have drug, alcohol, or mental health issues. A survey of officers found that 97% felt the program was helpful to them and many urged its expansion.

    Great story! Too bad many police stations don’t have these kinds of services after 5:00 pm when government agencies shut down and the workers go home.
