ALPR, big data, and debt collection

This article describes police use of Automated License Plate Readers in Texas to collect unpaid fines and fees. Several departments have gotten the technology for free from the vendor in return for a commission on fines collected plus commercial access to the ALPR data.

    I’m not certain such an arrangement would be legal in Pennsylvania.
