Analysis of police shootings in Chicago

This legal studies manuscript provides an in-depth analysis of 259 police shooting cases in Chicago from 2006 to 2014. While over 80% of persons shot were Black, the data suggest that assignment patterns and aggressive police tactics are more accountable than officer race or implicit bias. Foot pursuits, plainclothes officers, and off-duty shootings were disproportionately represented in the incidents.
