This article reports that the LA Police Commission has directed the LAPD to conduct a “deep analysis” of racial bias by November 1, following another quarterly report that the department had not substantiated any biased policing complaints. Failing to uphold any of several hundred annual complaints was described by one PD commander as “the elephant in the room.”

Coincidentally, several days ago, I spoke with a university professor who had done some some research on biased policing. He became frustrated and abandoned that work after realizing there’s no way to prove racial profiling.
