Gun laws & homicides

This article reports a new meta analysis of studies done since 1970 on the effects of gun laws on gun homicides. Two types of gun laws were associated with lower homicide rates — strengthening background checks and requiring a permit to purchase a firearm. Other laws, including banning assault weapons and limiting firearms trafficking, had inconsistent or no effects.
