Technology & privacy in Oakland

Here’s an interview of the Oakland PD research and planning manager focused on changes in police technology and transparency over the last decade or two. California has a 2015 state law restricting use of the “stingray” cell-site simulator and Oakland has its own privacy commission “believed to be a rare instance of outside citizen-driven oversight on surveillance in a major American city.”
