Untested rape kits in Texas

This article reports an estimated 20,000 untested rape kits in Texas with a cost around $10 million to eliminate the backlog. A 2011 state law requires agencies to report how many untested kits they have in evidence storage. Only 5% of the state’s agencies have reported, but they include most of the largest agencies.
