Failing to extradite fugitives

This story provides several examples of murders committed by fugitives from other states who were free because the jurisdiction that had felony warrants for them either would not extradite or had not even put the warrants in NCIC. The explanation in most cases was that extradition would have been too costly. Nationally, there are almost 200,000 wanted felons whom police indicate would not be extradited if detained in another state.
